Welcome to Dr. McHugh & Associates P.C., and thanks for dropping by! Here, we take pride in serving the foot care needs of our patients and strive to get the community back on its feet! With over 40 years in podiatry and thousands of satisfied patients, you can trust us with making sure your feet and ankles are well taken care of!

We aim to educate our patients in a safe environment while offering them necessary comprehensive care. We understand that many problems arrive suddenly and unexpectedly, so we created a soothing environment and a scheduling system that never keeps you waiting long. We have three offices in Watertown, Wolcott, and Torrington, respectfully. We are also on staff at Saint Mary’s Waterbury Hospital as well as Charlotte Hungerford Hospital.

Meet Our Doctors

Dr. John McHugh D.P.M.

John McHugh was born in Middletown, Connecticut and raised in nearby Cheshire. Dr. McHugh graduated from Cheshire High School and then from St. Michaels College in Winoski, Vermont with a BS in biology. While attending St. Michaels, Dr. McHugh attended a lecture given by a local podiatrist and was inspired by the devotion shown by the podiatrist to his practice. Dr. McHugh decided this was the medical route he wanted to take and after college, he was accepted to the Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine in the windy city.

Graduating with honors, Dr. McHugh continued his career back east with his residency in Cambridge hospital at Harvard university. After his residency, Dr. McHugh found himself back home in Connecticut and opened his practice “Dr. McHugh and Associates” in November of 1985 at the recently constructed Depot Square Mall. As the years passed, 34 to be exact, the practice grew in number of patients and renown. Dr. McHugh was named to Connecticut magazine’s “Top Docs” several times. To compensate, Dr. McHugh opened two more offices and hired five more doctors.

Dr. McHugh loves podiatry but he loves his patients and Watertown even more. When the time came to move to bigger offices in June of 2018, Dr. McHugh and Associates only traveled about two miles down the road in the newly built Echo Lake Commons complex. Tripling in size, the practice now can enjoy the comfort of more space for years to come. Dr. McHugh is currently the President of Dr. McHugh and Associates and is on staff at both St. Marys and Waterbury hospital.

Dr. McHugh is married to Michele and together they have wonderful children in Katie and Jeff as well an amazing grandson named Mason. Dr. McHugh’s patients hold him in extremely high regard. He prides himself on wonderful and caring treatment of his patients as well as his extreme punctuality. He looks forward to meeting you!

Dr. Dave Mullen D.P.M.

Dr. David Mullen has been a podiatrist with McHugh and Associates since 2002 and is currently a partner in the practice. His undergraduate degree was completed at Moravian College in Bethlehem, PA where he was a member of the Alpha Phi Omega Service Fraternity. Excelling as a student athlete, he lettered in both Track & Field and Cross Country Running. Participation in these sports played an instrumental part in cultivating his interest in podiatry. Dr. Mullen completed his medical education at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. He continued his surgical education at the renowned residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. Dr. Mullen has been a respected Board Certified Podiatric Surgeon since 2007 and volunteers as a Connecticut State Police Surgeon. He is affiliated with St. Mary's Hospital and Waterbury Hospital. He is primarily located in his Wolcott office, but does offer hours in the Torrington location.
